This bowl of life's essence is the a cultural delicacy of the Efik tribal aborigines of the coastal homesteads around Old Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. Because the people are of the riverine area, their major source of livelihood is fishing and fish farming, which provides the readily available source of omega oils from fish fats and protein. Made with choice local spices like bell peppers, curry leaves, palm oil and thickened with Shredded chunks of okra vegetable or soaked garri flakes or pounded yam or cocoyam depending on Individuals taste. The fisherman soup goes well with boiled rice, sauteed potatoes wedges, foofoo or pounded yam. Welcome to the Efik Kingdom
